A 2010 round-the-world trip rebuilt from a dead Flash site
Claude Code scraped and matched old tweets, photos and posts to rebuild a lost Flash travel site as a 3D globe.
The full story
In 2010 the poster and a friend told their round-the-world trip live on a Flash site pinned to a Google Map. After Flash died the site went dark, and for the 15th anniversary they rebuilt it as a 3D globe with 119 stops, each showing the real tweets, photos, videos and blog posts from that day.
The hard part was data: over 1,300 tweets, nearly 2,000 Flickr photos and 11,000 source photos with no database or GPS data. Claude Code wrote the scrapers, import and audit scripts and most of the Next.js and MapLibre front end. They started over from scratch three times because of regressions.
