The full story
crtulum is "a CRT you can hold in your hands, minus the 70 pounds of leaded glass". It's a Wayland app in Rust and Vulkan that captures another program's window and shows it on a 3D virtual CRT, with shaders for curved glass, phosphors and scanlines. It also runs RetroArch cores, so retro games look right: the waterfalls in Sonic work and Chrono Trigger looks legit. It was built with Claude.
