The full story
The maker used Opus 5.5 in Claude Code to build a miniature 3D Middle-earth from scratch in Three.js and WebGPU, then turn it into a 3:47 cinematic journey. The project covered terrain generation, 24 procedural landmarks, lighting, water, smoke, lava and day-to-night transitions, camera choreography, frame-by-frame video rendering and an original orchestral score.
The maker says the hardest parts were ordinary engineering problems such as architecture, consistency, visual checks and resource limits, and that the result still needed taste, direction and a lot of review. The source, rendering pipeline and reproduction steps are published.
