The full story
Claude Fable 5 built a Backrooms escape game for the browser: find eight pages in a maze generated fresh each run, reach the exit and avoid the monster. The textures are drawn in code, all sound is synthesised with WebAudio, and the monster uses pathfinding and freezes when you look at it.
The surprising bugs were browser-level ones. Sneaking on Ctrl meant Ctrl+W closed the tab, key-repeat kept toggling sneak on and off so the monster heard footsteps, and Chromium silently refuses pointer lock for a moment after it is released.
