Worked Proof shown

A collar mic button turned into a dictation trigger

Claude Code worked out how a DJI Mic Mini 2 button reaches a Mac as a keypress and wrote a Karabiner-Elements rule that starts voice dictation.

The full story

The poster wanted the button on their DJI Mic Mini 2 to start dictation without touching the keyboard. Claude Code found that DJI mics have a camera-shutter feature that sends a volume-up keypress, which arrives on a Mac as a normal HID event when the receiver is plugged in by USB-C.

Claude confirmed prior art, checked the manual, read the USB IDs from the receiver and wrote a Karabiner-Elements rule, filtered to that DJI device, that triggers Wispr Flow's hands-free shortcut. It works, with one caveat: in Bluetooth-only mode the mic exposes no button events. It is open source with a one-line installer.

What this is. Real projects where people used Claude to build, fix, port, revive or take apart something, from jailbroken Kindles to rebuilt DOS games, plus the times it went badly wrong. Every build links to where it was shared, and every source is listed here.

How far to trust it. We summarise what people reported and say what each build rests on: a full write-up with code, a short post, or a passing comment. We haven't tested them ourselves. Photos are shown from the original sources with credit. Only modify hardware you own, and back up first.

Privacy. No accounts. Analytics cookies (Google Analytics) only if you accept them; no ads or cross-site tracking. Searches are counted anonymously (just the words) to show what's popular, and so are clicks on Ask Claude (just the count).
