The full story
A Friday chat with Claude about operating systems turned into a design session, then a prototype. A week later there was a working OS. The idea: rather than your files living inside apps, the OS itself understands, renders, indexes and tracks the history of your files, and editors are tools you pick up only to change something. There's no "Open with" and no Save button. After one week it had a from-scratch Rust kernel on QEMU (aarch64), 27 system calls, a 4-core scheduler and a full display pipeline with a compositor and font rendering.
