A Coral PCIe TPU made to work with Frigate on a Raspberry Pi 5

Claude did most of the debugging of a Coral TPU that Frigate couldn't initialise on HAOS on a Pi 5; the fix was using the TPU's full PCI address.

The full story

Every guide said to use a generic device setting for a Google Coral PCIe TPU in Frigate, but on Home Assistant OS on a Raspberry Pi 5 that failed with "No EdgeTPU was detected", even though the drivers loaded. The poster says Claude.ai helped with most of the debugging and Gemini got him over the line.

The fix was to give Frigate the TPU's full PCI bus address. The write-up, which he had Claude summarise, explains how to find that address from the HAOS SSH terminal.

What this is. Real projects where people used Claude to build, fix, port, revive or take apart something, from jailbroken Kindles to rebuilt DOS games, plus the times it went badly wrong. Every build links to where it was shared, and every source is listed here.

How far to trust it. We summarise what people reported and say what each build rests on: a full write-up with code, a short post, or a passing comment. We haven't tested them ourselves. Photos are shown from the original sources with credit. Only modify hardware you own, and back up first.

Privacy. No accounts. Analytics cookies (Google Analytics) only if you accept them; no ads or cross-site tracking. Searches are counted anonymously (just the words) to show what's popular, and so are clicks on Ask Claude (just the count).
