A custom bedroom wall unit designed with Claude Code
Claude Code wrote a Python script that generated carpenter-ready technical drawings for a custom wall unit, which a carpenter then built.
The full story
The poster wanted a custom wall unit with a wardrobe, drawers, mirror, fragrance display, hidden compartment and laundry section, and used Claude Code instead of an interior designer or SketchUp. Claude wrote a Python script of about 1,400 lines of matplotlib that produced a dimensioned PDF with a front elevation, plan view and a hidden compartment page.
The design was changed step by step by describing alterations, and Claude updated the script each time. The poster handed the PDF to a carpenter, who built the unit to spec. It is installed and used daily.
