What went wrong

The lesson

Debloating a phone can remove apps that a feature you care about quietly depends on, so keep the restore script handy.

The full story

The poster handed a phone full of preinstalled apps, ads and a lock-screen magazine to Claude Code, working over adb with no root. Claude listed every package, decided what was safe to remove, removed it and wrote a restore script.

One thing broke: live sports scores in the camera "island", which depended on one of the removed apps. Claude pulled apart the system UI to see how the island picks up notifications and built a replacement from scratch showing live football, cricket and US sports scores and F1 timing, as a roughly 150 KB APK. It tested it on its own emulator (354 checks, no failures), and a second pass with Codex caught further issues.

What this is. Real projects where people used Claude to build, fix, port, revive or take apart something, from jailbroken Kindles to rebuilt DOS games, plus the times it went badly wrong. Every build links to where it was shared, and every source is listed here.

How far to trust it. We summarise what people reported and say what each build rests on: a full write-up with code, a short post, or a passing comment. We haven't tested them ourselves. Photos are shown from the original sources with credit. Only modify hardware you own, and back up first.

Privacy. No accounts. Analytics cookies (Google Analytics) only if you accept them; no ads or cross-site tracking. Searches are counted anonymously (just the words) to show what's popular, and so are clicks on Ask Claude (just the count).
