A microgreens mini-farm with Claude Code in charge of watering
A Raspberry Pi grows microgreens while Claude Code checks photos and sensors, decides when to water, and emails a report.
The full story
The poster built a microgreens mini-farm on a Raspberry Pi as a fun proof of concept for using Claude in industrial settings. When an assessment is due, Claude Code is launched programmatically, takes a photo, compares it with earlier ones, and reads the water reservoir and soil moisture sensors.
It then decides whether to water, logs what it did and why, schedules its next assessment and emails a full report. It controls the camera and water pumps within a few hard-coded minimums and maximums. Claude wrote the MCP servers and helper scripts itself, while the poster put the hardware together, and it works.
