A Minecraft schematic to 3D print converter
Fable 5.1 built a converter that turns Minecraft schematics into multi-colour 3MF files or printable lego-style bricks, using the real block models.
The full story
The poster wanted to print their Minecraft builds and found that existing converters only make a cube per block with no textures. They had Fable 5.1 build a converter in about an hour. It reads several schematic formats, pulls block models and textures from the installed game including mods and resource packs, and outputs a 3MF with one object per filament. A lego mode splits builds into bricks with studs.
The first mob models, written from memory, were wrong (spider legs pointing up, zombies with one arm). Minecraft keeps the real models as Java code in its jar, so Claude wrote a small bytecode interpreter in Python that runs that code using Mojang's mappings, after which 78 mobs matched the game.
