A model train layout automated with an ESP32
Claude researched the parts, wrote the wiring instructions and helped program an ESP32 that runs two model trains from its own web page.

The full story
The poster had not touched electronics since university physics, so they asked Claude to research the parts to buy and write detailed wiring instructions, then iterated with Claude Code on the software for an ESP32 controller. The ESP32 creates its own WiFi network and serves a simple web page that drives the trains.
There is also an auto mode: it sends the freight train round, detects it entering the siding and stops it, then does the same with the passenger train, and repeats. The poster had to correct a few things by hand in both the parts and the software.
