The full story
The poster wanted a lighter KDE Connect for their Mac than the official 87 MB port that uses over 400 MB of RAM. With Claude Code they built Tether, a native SwiftUI app that syncs notifications, SMS, files, clipboard and media controls with the Android app. As of version 1.6 the phone also appears as a drive in Finder, via a small local NFS server backed by an SFTP client.
When pairing broke, Claude read KDE's pairing code and found the app was sending a timestamp KDE treats as a new request. It also made mistakes: its own unit tests unmounted the poster's drive and left 29 "Echo Test" commands in their settings, which it traced and fixed.
