A possible planet found in TESS data with Claude Code

Claude Code helped search NASA TESS data and found a repeating dip in one star that may be a small planet, still only a candidate.

The full story

Going through NASA TESS data with Claude Code, the poster noticed a star about 116 light-years away that dims by about 0.05% every 3.18 days for roughly two hours. The same dip appears in separate observations from 2020 and 2018, and if it is a planet it would be about 1.4 times Earth's size.

Claude downloaded and parsed the data, wrote the search code, fitted transits and checked for false positives, across 74 analyses and over 1,000 scripts, with fresh agent sessions and Codex reviewing. The poster stresses it is a candidate, not a confirmed planet.

What this is. Real projects where people used Claude to build, fix, port, revive or take apart something, from jailbroken Kindles to rebuilt DOS games, plus the times it went badly wrong. Every build links to where it was shared, and every source is listed here.

How far to trust it. We summarise what people reported and say what each build rests on: a full write-up with code, a short post, or a passing comment. We haven't tested them ourselves. Photos are shown from the original sources with credit. Only modify hardware you own, and back up first.

Privacy. No accounts. Analytics cookies (Google Analytics) only if you accept them; no ads or cross-site tracking. Searches are counted anonymously (just the words) to show what's popular, and so are clicks on Ask Claude (just the count).
