The full story

Sandbox Kernel is a bare-metal Raspberry Pi project with e-ink status, USB logging and trialled A/B updates that can fall back if a new kernel fails. Its README reports M0 board qualification on a Raspberry Pi Zero W v1.1, with M1 still in progress.

The provenance notice separates the models' contributions: Codex implemented the original M0, while Claude reviewed the design and later worked on board fixes, framebuffer, filesystem and user-mode features. Planned support for other Pi boards is not a tested compatibility claim.

What this is. Real projects where people used Claude to build, fix, port, revive or take apart something, from jailbroken Kindles to rebuilt DOS games, plus the times it went badly wrong. Every build links to where it was shared, and every source is listed here.

How far to trust it. We summarise what people reported and say what each build rests on: a full write-up with code, a short post, or a passing comment. We haven't tested them ourselves. Photos are shown from the original sources with credit. Only modify hardware you own, and back up first.
