Worked Proof shown

A Telegram dungeon master bot for family hikes, backed by Claude

To get a 14-year-old out walking, the owner built a Claude-backed Telegram bot that runs a low-key D&D game, checking in at random moments with server-side dice rolls.

The full story

The owner's wife's 14-year-old sister would rather be on her phone than walking, so he built a Telegram bot backed by Claude to turn hikes and mushroom-picking trips into a low-key D&D game. It tells a bit of story, then goes quiet and checks back at a random moment between 5 and 12 minutes, with no way to skip ahead.

Dice rolls happen on the server rather than being narrated by the model, and the people on the walk count as party members. It runs on Docker and Postgres with long-polling, costs a few dollars a month in API usage, and is open source.

What this is. Real projects where people used Claude to build, fix, port, revive or take apart something, from jailbroken Kindles to rebuilt DOS games, plus the times it went badly wrong. Every build links to where it was shared, and every source is listed here.

How far to trust it. We summarise what people reported and say what each build rests on: a full write-up with code, a short post, or a passing comment. We haven't tested them ourselves. Photos are shown from the original sources with credit. Only modify hardware you own, and back up first.

Privacy. No accounts. Analytics cookies (Google Analytics) only if you accept them; no ads or cross-site tracking. Searches are counted anonymously (just the words) to show what's popular, and so are clicks on Ask Claude (just the count). The Claude connector only receives the search words your Claude sends it.
