The full story
For their first ESP32 project, the poster used an ESP32 D1 Mini and a JSN-SR04T ultrasonic sensor, and coached Claude through building a salt level monitor for the family water softener. A Home Assistant card shows a yellow level that moves with the fill level and a number that turns darker red as it falls.
It cost about $50 CAD, and they still need a proper enclosure for the hardware.
