A web app that reads game save files to recap the story so far

After forgetting where he was in Baldur's Gate 3, the maker had Claude help reverse-engineer the save file, then turned it into a recap site for several games.

The full story

The maker wanted to return to a Baldur's Gate 3 playthrough but could not remember what he had been doing. With Claude's help he reverse-engineered the save file and used its flags and variables to generate a recap of his story choices.

He then added support for more games, including RimWorld, Crusader Kings 3, Disco Elysium and Cyberpunk 2077. A Go server parses the save and sends only the extracted story data to the Claude API, where Sonnet writes the recap for roughly $0.04 to $0.13. He warns that spoilers can still slip in.

What this is. Real projects where people used Claude to build, fix, port, revive or take apart something, from jailbroken Kindles to rebuilt DOS games, plus the times it went badly wrong. Every build links to where it was shared, and every source is listed here.

How far to trust it. We summarise what people reported and say what each build rests on: a full write-up with code, a short post, or a passing comment. We haven't tested them ourselves. Photos are shown from the original sources with credit. Only modify hardware you own, and back up first.

Privacy. No accounts. Analytics cookies (Google Analytics) only if you accept them; no ads or cross-site tracking. Searches are counted anonymously (just the words) to show what's popular, and so are clicks on Ask Claude (just the count).
