The full story

Claude Code found a Xiaomi TV on the Wi-Fi, removed 25 junk packages and every ad, and built a clean launcher in the style of Apple TV. The video warns this is for Android and Google TV only, and to go slowly, because some TVs have been bricked.

This is the approach behind CleanYourTV, a free project that began when a developer gave Claude Code the model number of his parents' TV. It uses the TV's own debug bridge (ADB) over Wi-Fi with no root and nothing uninstalled, so a restore script can bring every app back. It has since been tested on 293 TV models from 83 brands.

What this is. Real projects where people used Claude to build, fix, port, revive or take apart something, from jailbroken Kindles to rebuilt DOS games, plus the times it went badly wrong. Every build links to where it was shared, and every source is listed here.

How far to trust it. We summarise what people reported and say what each build rests on: a full write-up with code, a short post, or a passing comment. We haven't tested them ourselves. Photos are shown from the original sources with credit. Only modify hardware you own, and back up first.
