The full story
AI Rebuilds is a tracked list of software and games rebuilt from the outside in. It includes apps written by AI agents, game decompilations finished with Claude, engine reimplementations such as OpenRCT2, and earlier clean-room classics like Wine. Each entry says what it rebuilds, how (clean-room, reimplementation, decompilation, port) and whether AI was involved.
It listed 81 projects at the end of October 2026, with GitHub stars and last-commit dates refreshed weekly, and can be searched at ai-rebuilds.com. It also links a guide to rebuilding software with REA.
