The full story
license-checker, which extracts the licences of a project's npm dependencies, still gets about 760,000 downloads a week but was last updated in 2019. The author hit a bug in it while working on something else, found no maintained fix, and used Claude to revive it as license-checker-evergreen, an updated TypeScript fork.
