The full story
The manager of a Mexican restaurant in Wellington, New Zealand, used Claude Code to build an app for the record keeping required under the country's Food Act 2014. It runs on a spare 2018 Samsung Galaxy Tab A with 2GB of RAM that used to serve as the restaurant's till.
Claude suggested a React and Vite app with Shadcn for a dark look inspired by World of Goo, and the data is linked to Google Sheets so the boss can edit it and it is easy to show the City Council during inspections. It is still in development: not all the modules required by law are finished, and inventory, shopping list and food truck event modules are planned.
