An xAI text-to-speech integration for Home Assistant, written by Claude
Claude wrote a Home Assistant integration for xAI's voices, working through errors in conversation, including a voice-pipeline method that failed silently.

The full story
The owner wanted xAI's new text-to-speech voices in their Home Assistant voice pipeline instead of OpenAI's. Rather than write it themselves, they described what they needed to Claude, hit errors and iterated; Claude wrote all the code.
The result is a working custom component with a setup screen, all five xAI voices and support for expressive tags such as pauses and laughs. The main difficulty was that Home Assistant's modern TTS platform needs a streaming method, and the older method fails silently in voice pipelines, which took a while to work out.
