The full story
FreeShape is a free, open-source parametric CAD program that works like Onshape but runs entirely on the user's own PC, with no account or internet. It has constrained sketches, extrude, revolve, fillets, STEP import and export, assemblies with mates, 2D drawings and sheet metal, and is built on OpenCascade.
The maker says they built it with a lot of help from Claude, which made a project this size possible for one person. It is early, and they warn to expect rough edges.
