The full story
HeroMachine is a Flash-based character creator that has existed since 1998, with nearly 10,000 hand-drawn items. When Flash died in 2020 so did the tool. The creator had paid a developer for an unfinished rebuild and later burned out trying to redo it alone, including converting every item from Flash format to SVG.
After starting to use Claude Code for migration work in a day job, the creator says it took the half-finished conversion and helped complete it over a long weekend.
