Homelab and smart-home dashboards built with Claude

—

People use Claude to build wall and homelab dashboards, adding one feature at a time (for example, disk space on a file server) and pasting the code into their existing page.

The full story

Two examples of people building the home dashboard they always wanted with Claude. In the first, a blogger who had been asking Claude.ai for help maintaining a Synology file server went on to build a single page showing everything: server and service status, solar panels, security cameras and the Tailscale network. They added one feature at a time and pasted each new piece into the existing page.

In the second, YouTuber Oliur built a custom smart-home panel in about two hours. It runs on a 13-inch Android tablet with Home Assistant, with live camera feeds and Spotify controls, as a replacement for Apple's limited home view. The tips include choosing a non-OLED screen to avoid burn-in and using a kiosk app to lock the tablet to the dashboard.

What this is. Real projects where people used Claude to build, fix, port, revive or take apart something, from jailbroken Kindles to rebuilt DOS games, plus the times it went badly wrong. Every build links to where it was shared, and every source is listed here.

How far to trust it. We summarise what people reported and say what each build rests on: a full write-up with code, a short post, or a passing comment. We haven't tested them ourselves. Photos are shown from the original sources with credit. Only modify hardware you own, and back up first.
