This community suggestion proposes using REA to build an open-source server that existing Plex apps on Apple TV, phones and smart TVs could keep talking to, with no dependency on plex.tv. Logins, profiles and server discovery would all be handled locally. It would offer full libraries, metadata, transcoding and multi-user support, packaged for Docker on a NAS or Unraid.
The author's answer to "why not just use Jellyfin?" is that the goal is compatibility with the Plex apps people already have, not another separate ecosystem. It's an idea, not a project yet.
