The full story
Linus Torvalds pushed a branch to his own Linux tree, noref-filemap-read-with-llm, holding eight patches written by Claude Code under his direction. They rework how the page cache serves small reads, and showed about three times faster reads on one laptop. Phoronix spotted it. The patches were not merged. The article looks at what the branch shows about shipping agent-written code into the kernel.
