Worked Proof shown

Locoland, a 2003 train RTS, brought back to Windows 10 and 11

Claude Code named the functions of Locoland's decompiled exe and wrote DLL hooks that make the 2003 game run on modern Windows.

The full story

Locoland (Gromada, 2003) is a small real-time strategy game about armed trains. Its source code is not available, so the work started from the original exe: Ghidra decompiled it and Claude Code named functions and struct fields in plain text files, reaching all 993 engine functions. Fixes are hooks in a DLL loaded by the original exe, and Claude tested in the real game through a test mode that drives mouse and keys and takes screenshots.

It now runs on Windows 10/11 in a window or full screen up to 4K. The poster also found the developers' own map editor mode still inside the exe, switched off, and has turned it back on with an editor built around it. Multiplayer is a possible next step.

What this is. Real projects where people used Claude to build, fix, port, revive or take apart something, from jailbroken Kindles to rebuilt DOS games, plus the times it went badly wrong. Every build links to where it was shared, and every source is listed here.

How far to trust it. We summarise what people reported and say what each build rests on: a full write-up with code, a short post, or a passing comment. We haven't tested them ourselves. Photos are shown from the original sources with credit. Only modify hardware you own, and back up first.

Privacy. No accounts. Analytics cookies (Google Analytics) only if you accept them; no ads or cross-site tracking. Searches are counted anonymously (just the words) to show what's popular, and so are clicks on Ask Claude (just the count). The Claude connector only receives the search words your Claude sends it.
