The full story
Mictlan was the maker's first game, released in 2011 for Windows Phone 7 using Microsoft's XNA framework. With both the platform and the framework long dead, the game had been unplayable for years. Using Claude Code, the maker ported it to MonoGame in a couple of hours at a cost of $43.
They stress it was not a one-click job: the game is simple and 2D, so there were no lighting or rendering issues to worry about, and because they wrote it they could tell Claude how it should work and which framework to port to. They suggest the same approach could help preserve old games that never earned enough to justify a hand-made port.
