The full story

The poster found Oblivion Remastered ran with low frame rates and stuttering (20-30 FPS in Cheydinhal) even after a GPU upgrade, on a 5800X CPU with 32GB RAM. They asked Claude Opus to explain the low FPS while the game was running, giving it access to the Unreal Engine source via their GitHub account.

Claude reportedly found that the game rebuilt the whole lighting of a scene every frame even when nothing changed, which loaded a single CPU thread. Two weeks of work followed, including a benchmark harness so Claude could optimise bottleneck scenarios on its own. The post text available here is cut off before the final results, so the outcome is unverified.

What this is. Real projects where people used Claude to build, fix, port, revive or take apart something, from jailbroken Kindles to rebuilt DOS games, plus the times it went badly wrong. Every build links to where it was shared, and every source is listed here.

How far to trust it. We summarise what people reported and say what each build rests on: a full write-up with code, a short post, or a passing comment. We haven't tested them ourselves. Photos are shown from the original sources with credit. Only modify hardware you own, and back up first.
