The full story
The maker wanted reading practice that helped with a difficult word rather than scoring the whole attempt. Oku listens as a child reads, then offers syllable help or reads a troublesome word aloud. Claude Code implemented the React app, Cloudflare Worker, D1 database and parent dashboard.
The Claude API generates weekly stories using the sounds and words that need more practice. Claude Code also created Blender reward models. The parent tested the app and caught a level-up calculation that could never succeed and a speech-service trial expiry that had left sessions without recognised words.
The maker reports regular use at home and early use by other families. Parent pages support English, Turkish, Arabic and Polish. Speech is sent to Azure for recognition; the maker says recordings are not retained, while recognition scores are stored.
