The full story
Lots of synths, samplers and effects units have more settings than front-panel knobs. PatchWork, a native macOS app built with Claude, lets you drag controls onto a canvas, give each one a MIDI address and use the layout as an editor for that device.
It supports CC, NRPN and SysEx messages and MIDI Learn, so the same app can drive a 1988 rack unit and a current synth. Panels save as shareable .pwork files. It's free on GitHub, with no third-party dependencies.
