The full story
Quake VR: Unleashed is a free, open-source mod that turns Quake into a native-feeling VR game rather than a stereo camera port: you hold, aim and reload weapons by hand, holster them on your body, climb ledges, throw physics props, and shove or dismember ragdoll enemies. It plays the original campaign, the official expansions and custom maps. It is built on a heavily modified fork of the Ironwail source port, uses OpenXR and has been tested on a Quest 3.
The author says most of the code over the last few months was written by Claude Code agents. They test in the headset and record voice notes; a coordinator agent transcribes them locally with Whisper, splits them into tasks and hands each to a worker agent in its own git worktree.
