Split-screen co-op for Oblivion (2006)

—

Claude Code reverse engineered Oblivion through a Ghidra server and wrote an xOBSE plugin adding two-player split-screen co-op.

The full story

Oblivion never had co-op, so the poster built it with Claude Code: two controllers on one PC, a second player with their own character, and a split screen. Most of the work was reverse engineering, with Claude reading the game's code through a Ghidra server and writing C++ hooks as an xOBSE plugin, covering menus, levelling, crafting and riding for player 2.

Claude built a harness that launches the game and plays it with two virtual controllers, now with 179 scenarios; an early test passed while player 1's camera was on the floor, so checks look at the actual picture. It was released free as a beta on Nexus, and early player bug reports were fixed within days.

What this is. Real projects where people used Claude to build, fix, port, revive or take apart something, from jailbroken Kindles to rebuilt DOS games, plus the times it went badly wrong. Every build links to where it was shared, and every source is listed here.

How far to trust it. We summarise what people reported and say what each build rests on: a full write-up with code, a short post, or a passing comment. We haven't tested them ourselves. Photos are shown from the original sources with credit. Only modify hardware you own, and back up first.

Privacy. No accounts. Analytics cookies (Google Analytics) only if you accept them; no ads or cross-site tracking. Searches are counted anonymously (just the words) to show what's popular, and so are clicks on Ask Claude (just the count).
