The full story
A full port of the 1990 Oregon Trail to a Hosyond ESP32-S3 2.8" capacitive touchscreen board, using MECC graphics and sound from the open-source C# Maxwolf/OregonTrail project, which was also used as the reference for accurate gameplay. It added sleep, a battery meter and brightness and volume controls, and the whole binary is under 817KB and runs from flash with no SD card.
The maker says Claude helped restructure the code and make the commits more efficient. It took about a week, and the repo includes a board file of gotchas for this CYD variant and a ready-to-flash binary.
